Jewellery Collection for VDA Group
Snowflake and Venus Collection showcase the endless possibilities that come with superior stone-setting techniques and precise hand-carving skills. This design was tested more than a hundred times to reach the level of visual appeal that VDA envisioned. VDA designers created 13 different sized-diamonds, which must be precisely mounted along an intricate frame, to assemble them in a way that imitates diamonds rated at 1 carat and about yet at a significantly lower cost for the customer.

Production Technology
The design inspiration of this collection required pinpoint accuracy when it came to the sizing of every individual diamond as they needed to fit perfectly to build and mimic diamonds rated at 1 carat and above. The true production technology came down to superior hard-carving skills, rather than the machine.
Design Challenge
The arrangement of the diamonds was a big challenge as we needed to mimic a larger diamond with the same visual appeal. As the collection featured various designs, we had to come up with diamond sizes and shapes that would be versatile enough to be pieced together and used throughout the collection.
Project Duration
This project began in 2017 in Hong Kong, and although it was realized the same year, we continue to draw inspiration from nature in order to continuously improve and expand on the collection.
Operation Flow
This collection features an elegant design of gold jewellery with a stunning 1-carat diamond imitation. With our advanced techniques and hard-carving skills, the imitation design is constructed by 13 different-sized-and-shaped diamonds precisely mounted on the jewellery. The diamonds can also be rearranged to create different shapes, allowing for an interactive experience with the customer to choose their favourite jewellery.
Research
To overcome the high price-performance ratio of jewellery pieces, we knew that the brilliance and the reflection of diamonds themselves were an important element of the research. The reflection of six same-sized diamonds together produces a stunning visual that closely mimics 1-carat diamonds. In order to fill the crevices of the six diamonds to ultimately achieve the same effect, we required smaller diamonds-bringing the total to 13 diamonds but at a lower cost than using a single 1-carat diamond.
Inspiration
Inspired by the unique and multifaceted structures of snowflakes, Snowflake Collection features tightly packed diamonds that prove there are strength and beauty in numbers-much like the accumulation of snowflakes. The Venus Collection is a gorgeous extension of The Snowflake. This collection features a special design that uses natural yellow diamonds encircled by white diamonds.
